Thomas Edmanson, his parents’ only son, was born in Bradford, Ontario and attended Parkdale Collegiate before entering UTS in 1910. He later studied at University College, and had an active social life - he was a member of the Parkdale Canoe Club and the Epiphany Church choir. He enlisted in 1917, going overseas with the Coburg Heavy Battery in June. In France, he transferred to the 3rd Canadian Siege Battery, serving at the front for over a year and becoming a popular soldier, well-liked and respected for his efficiency. He was killed in action in July 1918 and is buried in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery in Souchez, France - the cemetery from which the remains of Canada’s Unknown Soldier were repatriated - along with Cyril Thomas Houston, another UTS boy.
